Scandium is the best alloying element for Aluminum by atomic weight and therefore offers huge reductions in vehicle weight. Imperial is an SME and we would want to explore Scandium Aluminum wire to replace copper in Electric Traction Motors as well as Scandium Aluminum for subtractive or additively manufactured components such as Battery Boxes, Structural Elements.
