Utilize the suite of built-in sensors/cameras/data on the Calibur3 electron beam printer to develop a predictive/reactive model correlating processing parameters to density; ultimately, reducing the time to market for new additive manufacturing materials from months to weeks.​

About Exergy Solutions:

Exergy solutions specializes in agile engineering to bring ideas into reality through in-house additive manufacturing capabilities. We will soon receive the world’s first Wayland Calibur3 electron beam printer; it combines unique technologies and an open architecture that will allow us to develop highly wear resistant materials, and process specialty metals.

Project Objectives:

  • Develop a predictive model for density on existing AM materials based on Calibur3 process monitoring data
  • Train the model to recognize and adjust key process parameters to optimal levels using existing AM materials
  • Test and optimize the model for up to 2 new materials with unknown parameter sets​
  • Reduce parameter development time for future new materials to less than 2 months

  • Experts in Additive Manufacturing and Materials Science
  • Production of test specimens using in-house Calibur3 electron beam 3D printer​ (partnering with Wayland OEM)
  • Materials characterization of printed samples
  • Working knowledge of fundamental AI and ML
