    Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (“NGen”) is the industry-led not-for-profit organization that leads the Canadian government’s ambitious investment in the Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster, matching federal funds and private investments to industry-led projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deliver in partnership with the Senior Program Director and other members of the NGen team, an organization that can demonstrate value to its Stakeholders and Partners and creates beneficial Economic impact within Canada.

    • Provide effective project application assessment to ensure that all project applications are reviewed fairly, objectively and measured against NGen’s core guidelines and deliverables.

    • Effectively recruit, hire and develop a pool of expert technology Assessors from across Canadian Industry

    • Provide effective project oversight and monitoring to ensure that project teams are held accountable to the approved scope and deliverables of their projects.

    • Appoint a Project Monitoring officer to each project, to review/monitor the project progress, and technical rigor and assist in knowledge transfer that complies with the ISED program guidelines.

    • Provide training, coaching and performance management to the Contract Project Monitoring officers, Sr. Program Manager (Assessment) and other Monitoring Team members.

    • Manage Contract Project Monitor and Assessor invoicing – Ensure that invoices are properly tracked, approved and paid on-time.

    • Ensure that all Project Review meetings are carried out timely, effectively and with meaningful reporting to track project performance.

    • Ensure that any corrective actions and observations related to the projects are closed in a timely and complete manner.

    • Ensure that all Project files are accurate, standardized and maintained to a high level of quality.

    • Create and implement a project reporting system permitting NGen executive staff (and other stakeholders as required) a regularly refreshed overview of the projects and the NGen portfolio.

    • Own and manage the KPI’s for the Monitoring process to drive year-over-year process improvement.

    • Work with the projects, the Senior Program Director, the Project Finance Director and with NGen Finance in developing and approving budget forecasts and project claims.

    • Work with Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada, FedDev Ontario, other funding bodies, as appropriate, to ensure alignment of technology development facilitation throughout the full innovation ecosystem.

    • Develop and maintain strong and complimentary working relationships with the entire Projects Delivery Team/NGen Team in delivering an outstanding level of service to NGen members.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • 20+ years of hands-on experience within a manufacturing or process-related industry
    • 10+ years in a Leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing business
    • Ability to develop and present effective training materials to the project Assessors and project Monitors on an ongoing basis
    • Technology development experience
    • Experience in new product development cycles including an understanding of TRL / MRL challenges; working with academia and partners throughout the supply chain
    • Knowledge of Technologies that could transform the manufacturing industry such as Industry 4.0, IoT, digital processes, additive manufacturing, advanced materials, cyber security
    • Expert Project Management experience, at a senior level
    • Experienced in managing KPIs and leading process improvement
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Strong communicator, both verbally and in written form
    • Familiarity with technical and manufacturing terminology
    • Experienced with MS Office tools and has a working knowledge of SharePoint
    • Ideally, experienced in both multi-national companies and SMEs
